A Sad Day

This just in from The New York Times:

The State Senate defeated a bill on Wednesday that would
legalize same-sex marriage, after an emotional debate that
touched on civil rights, family and history. The vote means
that the bill, pushed by Gov. David A. Paterson, is
effectively dead for the year and destroys the optimism of
gay advocates.

WTF New York, this is ridiculous! For all the haters out there who use the bible as an excuse to keep gay and lesbian families from the equal rights that we are all supposedly endowed with..... I give you this video, made back in the Prop 8 Days about a year ago.

The only good thing I can see coming out of this is that at least they did vote on it, so now we know which senators are for or against (previously many of them would not say). Look into who represents your district and keep their position on gay marriage in mind next time you vote. This is why primaries and local election years are important.
